In 2006, Cancer Control funds were used to purchase research equipment for the IU Radiobiology and Cancer Research Laboratory (a division of the Department of Radiation Oncology). Such instruments as Spectrophotometer, High-volume water purifier, Tissue Cell Bench, Centrifuge, DNA Gel Electrophoresis Box, and Cell Incubator, etc. were provided for $41,000.
Resident’s Research Grants of $50,000 were supported for senior Residents in 2007, to advance treatments in the field of cancer. The program was appropriately named Indiana Lions Cancer Control Rotation in Radiation Oncology Research.
